Hyundai Sonata: First Reviews

Early reviews of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata broke embargo this week. The early word? Pretty darn great. The new Sonata’s average score from critics jumped an amazing eight points as compared to the outgoing models. Here’s a little meta-review experiment. We ran all the recent published reviews of the Hyundai Genesis through a word cloud generator, to see if critics happened to grab for a particular adjective when writing about the car. And yep, they did.

As you can see, critics think the Genesis is a very good value.

Heretofore a scrappy underdog, Hyundai’s profile is skyrocketing, thanks to cheeky ads and brilliant marketing. (On Edmunds.com, traffic to pages featuring Hyundai’s Genesis are up 86 percent.) It helps that Hyundai is good cars. Check a few thousand reviews, and you’ll see that they have the second-highest rated sedan in America.
