Lexus LFA Might Be a Bargain

Reviews for Lexus’ new supercar are trickling in, and the early verdict is mixed. Car and Driver’s Mark Gillies claims the LFA can be considered a bargain, despite its $350k-plus pricetag:

Although the car is extravagantly expensive, Lexus says it will lose money on every one. We believe it.

The last car that incorporated a similar level of technology, performance, and exclusivity was the $650,000 Ferrari Enzo. At $350,000, the LFA begins to look like something of a bargain.

But wait! The elegantly named Arthur St. Antoine, of Motor Trend, thinks that Lexus may have aimed a wee bit high with its halo car:

The Lexus LFA is an extraordinary feat of engineering. But surrounded by far less costly Ferrari 458s, Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2s, Chevy Corvette ZR1s…$82,000 Nissan GT -Rs!…as a supercar it will need to swim like Michael Phelps to keep from drowning in a very deep pool.

Both critics, by the way, make the “for the cost of one LFA, you could buy [insert number] [insert car name]” analogy. They likely won’t be the last.

Even so, here are the early returns: the Lexus is averaging an 89 in its first published reviews. Expect some volatility with the score, but as of now, it’s trailing the more affordable GT-R, 911 Turbo, and R8.

LFA is limited edition,  I read that it was produced in very limited numbers plus the engine is autographed by the engineer who put it together. Paris Hilton has one.

    Auto Dealership Las Vegas
  • At those prices, nothing is a bargain.
