A Porsche for Car of the Year?

The finalists for the 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year Award are out and we couldn’t help doing a little prognostication as to who might follow the 2009’s winner, the Hyundai Genesis (above).

By Motormouths scores alone the Porsche Panamera should be a lock for the Car award with a 90 score  (followed by the Mazda3/MazdaSpeed3, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Toyota Prius and the new Volkswagen GTI which are tied at 87)

The truck side its harder to call as the Audi Q5, Chevrolet Equinox,  and Lincoln MKT are all tied at 84.

To be clear, Motormouths scores have no bearing on the actual awards,  although we do track many of the jurors.  Porsche should beware however, that domestic producers have dominated the award (winning 8 out of 15 car awards, and 9 out of 15 for trucks), so don’t be too surprised if the All-American Chevrolet Camaro, or Cadillac CTS (both scoring 85 on Motormouths) pull ahead in the end.
